RevenueDriver is the newest domain parking company on the block.

These days it seems like the number of domain name parking options is declining. So it’s nice to see a new option on the table in RevenueDriver.

Based in Italy, RevenueDriver brings multi-lingual support and a European perspective to the parking business. Currently, Sedo and NameDrive are generally considered the strongest European parking companies, but RevenueDriver uses a different ad feed provider. It’s worth testing RevenueDriver to see if its ad feed works better on your domains.

The company has about 40 graphical templates. Examples include these for boats, movies, and celebrities.

Like many parking companies, RevenueDriver lets you choose keywords for your domains or let the system automatically choose them. The system learns what people are looking for over time and changes keywords accordingly.

As most domainers watch their pay-per-click revenue fall, it’s nice to see new option on the table.

Company continues domain name liquidation.

The whois information for Mouse.com and Keyboard.com have changed, with the administrative email now showing domain name broker Sedo. This confirms that Live Current Media (OTC: LIVC.ob) has completed a sale of the two domain names, as DotWeekly observed on July 17. Mouse.com sold for $125,000 and Keyboard.com sold for $100,000.

Neither of these seem like spectacular domain names to me, as Keyboards.com would be preferred to the singular version. But when you do a little digging you see how even the singular version makes sense. For example, there’s a magazine called Keyboard Magazine, which uses the domain name KeyboardMag.com and caters to the music industry. That’s just one end user that might be interested in this domain name. And of course, there are plenty of ads available for the terms keyboard and mouse.

Neither domain name receives enough traffic for Compete.com to get an accurate read on them, but the service still suggests they each receive over 1,000 unique visitors per month.

NASK, the registry operator for Poland’s .PL top-level domain, has lost up to 14 million zloty ($4.5 million USD) on failed FOREX futures investments.

And according to a Polish news agency, this is also a potential case of fraud as NASK is a public entity and therefore lost taxpayers’ money.

“I am shocked that such an important institution not only has lost huge money, but also did so seriously violating the law,” said Barbara Kudrycka, Poland’s Science and Higher Education Minister, in a translated message.

NASK director Maciej Kozlowski was fired by Kudrycka over the scandal while former NASK Research Director, Krzysztof Malinowski, took over on July 1, 2009.

According to a recent study by Memorable Domains, Bing gives keyword-based websites the biggest boost in search engine rankings compared to other leading search engines such as Google and Yahoo.

Memorable Domains randomly selected 125 generic .co.uk websites and analyzed the position of each site within the first 2 pages (20 results) for a search on the keyword or keyphrase contained within its domain name (ex. “SpecialEffects.co.uk” and the “special effects” keyphrase). The study used Google UK, Yahoo UK, and Bing UK - all in default search mode except from selecting “results from the UK” modifier as offered by each search engine.

Two metrics were examined: the presence of the site within the top 20 results (on a “yes” or “no” basis) and the specific position at which the site was displayed if it was in the top 20.

“Yahoo UK (default mode) and Google (default mode) both saw similar numbers of domains ranking within the first 20 results, at 56% and 57% respectively”, according to the study. “In other words, over half of all the sites in the study ranked within the top 20 results on Yahoo UK and/or Google UK for a search on the keywords making up their domain name, and this was the lowest overall result. For Bing UK (default mode), 62% of domains ranked within the top 20 results.”

While Bing is the most generous search engine for keyword-based domain names, the evidence shows that keywords always play an important factor in achieving a top 20 ranking on any search engine.
