Moniker plans to file another request for sanctions against Transamerica.
Moniker has notified the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida that it plans to file another request for sanctions under Rule 11.
Transamerica first filed suit against Moniker and many other defendants a couple months ago for cybersquatting. The complaint had many flaws that showed that Transamerica’s lawyers didn’t understand the domain name system.
Last month Moniker requested Rule 11 sanctions against Transamerica. Rule 11 sanctions basically say that the party that filed the lawsuit “failed to investigate the basic facts, or makes false statements of facts which they should have known through reasonable investigation were untrue,” according to attorney Enrico Schaefer of Traverse Legal.
Transamerica responded with an amended complaint that fundamentally changed the allegations of the lawsuit. The company no longer suggested that Moniker owned the domain names in question, but instead that Moniker enabled the alleged cybersquatters to hide their identities.
According to a court filing (pdf) added to the docket today, Moniker is now asking for another extension so it can file a motion to dismiss the case and it will be filing another request for Rule 11 sanctions.

Christian.com sells for $600,000, buyer to create Christian social network.
Yesterday I wrote about Boris Kreiman, who bought the domain name Call.com for $1.1 million. He said he wasn’t done buying, and here’s proof: he just plunked down $600,000 for Christian.com.
Kreiman told Domain Name Wire that he’s going to use the domain name for a Christian social network and Christian encyclopedia.
The domain transfer is currently going through at Sedo. However, the domain was scheduled to be auctioned at next Month’s T.R.A.F.F.I.C. domain conference in New York by Rick Latona Auctions. Given that the seller of Christian.com probably had a contract with Latona’s company, it’s likely that both Sedo and Rick Latona Auctions had a hand in the sale.
Kreiman said he has also made two other notable purchases recently, but the information about those purchases will be kept confidential.

After the jump, find the the unofficial results of the Domainvermarkter Forum Live domain auction held today by Sedo in Cologne. If a name is marked as “pending acceptance”, it refers to a bid that has not reached the minimum reserve and is subject to acceptance by the current owner of the domain. Potentially those domains may also end up in the silent auction of the event. The total of all domains that have reached their reserve is 87,221€ (about 124,500 USD) and the total of all bids is 105,271 € (about 150,300 USD). The highest sale was for zäune.de (fences in German) at 9,000 € (about 12,850 USD)

Google has just launched a new search traffic tracking tool called Google Domestic Trends. Domestic Trends tracks 23 economic sectors including retail, auto, employment, construction, computers and electronics and more.
The premise for coming up with this tool is that changes in search volume of a given sector on Google.com may be useful for financial analysts and investors to know which among these sectors are actively searched by consumers.
In addition, the Google Finance Blog wrote:
Each index value is baselined at 1.0 on January 1, 2004 and is calculated and displayed on the Google Finance charts as a 7-day moving average. You can easily compare actual stocks and market indexes to these Google Trends on the charts.
Google Domestic Trends sits right inside the Google Finance Site. Individual sector data can be downloaded and used freely for comparison with your own statistical models.

Bing is preparing a new sharing feature right on its SERPs – sharing search results to Twitter and Facebook, as well as email. Â The new feature is called Bing & Ping and it’s your typical sharing feature that we see on almost any websites right now. What’s unique about this is the fact that Bing is appending the sharing icons (Twitter and Facebook) at the bottom of each of the search results in a given SERP.

The sharing icons will be in almost all of the Bing search results and will be more particularly useful when you are doing travel-related searches and other interesting stuff. You can now immediately share what you find on Bing search to anyone in your Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Interestingly, the sharing feature did not include Windows Live as pointed out in some of the comments on the Bing Community Blog. It’s a valid concern especially since Windows Live also has an updating of status feature. Â But then of course we all know that it would be best for Bing to have the sharing feature for Twitter and Facebook users first.
Bing will be sending out invites to interested users who would like to preview Bing & Ping. If you’re interested, Â become a fan of Bing’s Facebook fan page and watch out for the invites. And while you’re still in Facebook, you might also want to become a fan of SEJ’s Facebook page. It’s rapidly growing and you wouldn’t want to be left behind by those cool Facebook members who already became fans of SEJ.

For some Google’s simplistic interface is its best advantage. Others may think it is too boring. This post looks at some ways to beatify Google search as well as give it more visualizing and entertaining features:
1. Google Preview
GooglePreview is a FireFox addon that adds a thumbnail of each page within Google SERPs:

Similar addon: Better Search
2. Google Icons
Google Icon add the favicon next to each search result (if available) in Google SERPs.
Icons make it easier to recognize your favorite websites and breathe more life into that dull search page.

Similar addon: Faviconiac
3. GoogleBlack
This extension makes Google search results page black and I’d say a bit gloomy:
Similar Greasemonkey script: Google enhanced BLACK
4. Push Google Search Ads Right
This script pushes Google ads from above organic search results to the right:
Before:

After:

Related script: Remove Google Sponsored Links
5. Colorful Google Search
This script adds some fun to Google SERPs: random light background colors of search results.

6. Google Keyword Highlight
This userscript highlights search keywords in the result of Google search.

7. Google Numbered Results
Google Search Results – Numbered – adds numbers to Google results

There have been a few articles already where I shared how to use Wikipedia tools for keyword and topic research (Wikipedia visualization tools are especially good for that).
Today I am sharing another nice tool that generates the list of logically related concepts: Smart Wiki Search.
For any concept you specify the tool provides the corresponding Wikipedia article (in red) and the list of “similar” concepts:
[Weight loss]

The site describes itself as “a similarity search engine” that “uses the link structure of Wikipedia to calculate which concepts each page is associated with.”
For the tool to work:
- The concept you enter should have a separate page on Wikipedia;
- The concept you enter should be popular enough (obviously, the article should be well-interlinked).
What I found the most useful was its ability to search for more than one concept:
…enter “Food” and you will be presented with a list of Wikipedia pages discussing common foodstuffs. Add “Jewish”, and it will find pages where the concept of “Food” overlaps with the concept of Jewish culture – Jewish cuisine, Kosher food etc.
Let’s proceed with the example shown above:
[Weight loss, fashion]

Seems to work, doesn’t it?
The tool was reviewed under SEJ policy.

Do you still monitor your Feedburner analytics as closely as your do your Twitter referrals? And if you don’t, is it because Twitter does not have the analytics capacity that say Feedburner does?
This may soon change as Twitter has swooped up former Feedburner CEO turned Google Product Manager (after the Google acquisition of Feedburner) Dick Costolo (who’s currently drinking wine in France) as its new COO. What does this mean for Twitter? A lot.
Imagine the ability to open a pro Twitter Analytics account with a monthly micropayment structure and be able to track all referrals whch are passed through the Twitter API .. not just Twitter.com based referrals, but via the various Twitter applications, Twitter syndication, various shorteners and other Twitter powered news items which distribute your ideas and or links to your site … via tweets, retweets and forms of 140 character haiku.
And something like that would just be emulating Feedburner analytics, but if Twitter were able to plug in directly to RSS feeds in the same manner Feedburner once did and DOES to track blog and RSS readership metrics and implement them into its realtime search algorithm … that my friends woud be a whole different story and give Twitter another powerful jump in its search engine aspirations.
Then again, with Google apparently on the acquisition trail, Costolo and his crew may be preparing Twitter for a major acquisition by Google. Strategy? If I’m Twitter and I want to be acquired by Google, why not hire someone who built a similar company which was also acquired by Google (a bit too soon in my opinion).

As an AdWords advertiser, you’re likely focused on making sure your paid advertising campaigns are performing well and delivering positive results - but have you also thought about taking advantage of the free ways you can promote your physical business location on Google and Google Maps as well? In this post, we’ll show you how to ensure your business locations can be found on Google, and then we’ll show you how to go a step further by promoting your locations with AdWords location extensions.
Free promotion
If your business already appears as a search result on Google.com and Google Maps, you can use
Local Business Center to claim your listing and add additional information, such as photos, videos, business hours and more. It’s completely free. If your business doesn’t currently show at all, you can
create a new listing, which is also free. Local Business Center recently launched a
dashboard that lets you see how many users saw your listing, how many clicked on various links in your listing, and which search queries caused your listing to appear. To get you started with Local Business Center, we’ve put together some
helpful tips on the kind of information you can and should include in your listing.
Drive even more sales with paid promotion
In addition to ensuring your organic listings are up-to-date, you can use AdWords ads for additional promotion. Both
location-targeted text ads and
location extensions can appear on Google Search and Google Maps result pages. When you create location extensions, you’ll be able to show your business addresses within your text ads. If you’re a primary business owner, you can
link your Local Business Center account with AdWords to ensure the most up-to-date information about your business is appearing within your ad. When you use extensions, you’ll also be able to upload a custom icon that will appear when your ads show on Google Maps. This allows you to take a more active role in ensuring your business locations stand out when users look for businesses like yours in your area.
So what are you waiting for? Take the first step and get yourself on the (Google) map by claiming or listing your business in
Local Business Center.
